Anjav district is an administrative district in the north-eastern Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. It was formed in 2004 after it was carved out of Lohit district by the Arunachal Pradesh Re-organization of Districts Amendment Act. In the north, the district borders China.

Kibithoo

Kibithoo is one of the most isolated circle headquarters in Arunachal Pradesh, as well as the only circle headquarters with a clear view of the Indo-China border.

Kibithu is located 87 km north-east of Hawaii at an altitude of 1305 meters above sea level on the right bank of the Lohit River. Mayors make up most of its people.

Namati Valley

Namati Valley, also known as Namati Maidan, is located 7 kilometers (km) on the road from Walong to Kibithoo. Indian soldiers fought hard here in 1962 against the Chinese invasion of the Valley.

A solemn war memorial honors the sacrifices of brave Indian warriors. Along the way, ancient trees testify to the great sacrifices made throughout the conflict. The beauty of the valley filled with the memories of the martyrs distinguishes Namati Valley from other tourist destinations.

Dong

Dong is a small attractive town inhabited by mayors located on the left bank of the Lohit River, about 7 kilometers from Walong. Snow capped mountains and beautiful pine trees make this area extremely attractive.

This town is also one of the places where the early morning can be seen. On January 1, 2000, people from all over the world gathered in Dong to witness the dawn of the millennium.

The settlement is currently connected by a foot suspension bridge with an iron floor spanning the Lohit River. The Dong Valley is breathtakingly beautiful, oozing pure serenity.

Hot Spring (Tilam)

The hot spring (Tilam) is a small hot spring located in a low-lying area next to the Lohit river, surrounded by hot sand dunes in winter and by thin streams carrying the hot spring water to the beautiful Lohit river in summer.

Helmet top

Helmet Top is a head top located above the sloping plains with a memorial dedicated to the soldiers who died in the 1962 conflict. All visitors go to the helmet top to pay homage to the martyr.

The Walong Circle headquarters, located at an altitude of 1094 meters above mean sea level and 58 kilometers above sea level, has historical value as it witnessed the battle of Indian troops against invading Chinese forces in 1962.

Walong means ‘place with bamboo trees’ in Mishmi (WA means bamboo, longa means place). The Mishmi and Mayor tribes form the majority of its people. The area’s outstanding natural beauty, as well as the War Memorial at Walong, are notable sites.

A picturesque village perched at an altitude of 1296 meters above sea level above the roaring Lohit River, the city is connected by the Anjaw Bridge, a cable suspension bridge.

The Anjav Bridge at Chequinti on the Lohit, which connects Hawaii to the main BRTF route, is an engineering marvel that contributes to the beauty of the area.

Chagalagam

Chagalagam is known for having the highest yield of large cardamom production in the state, and the Chagalagam circle, which has its headquarters at Chagalagam, is considered one of the most progressive circles in the interior.

The location receives a lot of shade, which encourages the spread of shade-loving large cardamom. Located on the left bank of the Dalai River, where it enters the Lohit near Hauliang. Chagalagam is situated at an altitude of 1258 meters above sea level.

  •   Air- The nearest airport to Anjav is Teju. From here, helicopter flights are available to Haiuliang. Anjav is 150 km from Dibrugarh Airport.
  • Additionally, Guwahati Airport is nearby and well connected to other major cities of the country. The nearest railway station is Tinsukia Railway Station. There are local buses from Zero, Tezu, Along and Daporijo that can take you to Anjav.
  • Rail- Tinsukia railway station in Assam is the nearest railway station to Anjaw. For the rest of the journey to Anjav, you can take a cab or a bus. Road- NH52 connects Anjav with the rest of the country, and there are bus services available for a small fee. Buses are available from other nearby cities.

Local Transport in Anjav

Intra-city travel is not well established, although there are buses that ply between cities and their tickets are reasonably priced. However, these buses are hardly the most luxurious mode of transport.
